NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Prayer Shawl Ministry: The Prayer Shawl Ministry has given out 20 prayer shawls with 4 more ready to be delivered—Just since beginning April 1st!! Shut-ins, nursing home residents, those having trials in life, a milestone reached, facing surgery, chemo or other health problems—all can be recipients of prayer shawls. We have a list of thoseneeding shawls, and if you know of someone, please contact Maxine in the office. We have recently been asked to provide 8 prayer shawls to the York Cancer Care center for their 4 treatment rooms. The clients are frequently cold while receiving treatment, due to their decreased immune system, and their budgets are low. These shawls/lap robes would be used on a continual basis, not given to any one person. Phyllis Folsom donated 2 twin size quilts to the Cancer Care center. If you would like to help with the cost of the yarn (it needs to be a soft, sturdy, washable yarn), please see Maxine in the office. If you would like to knit, crochet, or quilt a prayer shawl or lap robe, that would be welcome, also. There are lots of patterns to choose from in knit or crochet—from easy to advanced. The shawls are blessed by two or more people prior to being gifted, usually at our Thursday prayer meetings. Pastoral Search: The Acton Congregational Church is currently in search of a settled pastor. We will not accept any unsolicited ministerial profiles. Any profiles should be sent directly to the Maine Conference UCC. July Newsletter: May take a few mintues to download. Prayer Requests: If there is anyone interested in participating and being a part of our prayer chain or is need of prayer, please contact Maryann Ratteree. Electronic Newsletter Thanks to all who have responded to our plea for email addresses for our electronic mailing. Are you interested in saving the church postage by receiving the newsletter via email? Those who have no internet connection or do not wish to receive theirs by email may still have theirs arrive by “snail” mail. Circle of Hope If you have need of a listening ear, a visit, or other need, please call Maxine at the church or home (636-2467). We will put you in touch with someone who cares. | |
